Desk : India has successfully conducted a test of its strategic ballistic missile Agni-5, further strengthening its national defence capabilities. During the test, a bright and intense streak of light was seen across the sky, which was visible from several regions and reportedly even from Bangladesh, sparking widespread curiosity and discussion.
According to defence sources, the test was carried out from the Integrated Test Range in Odisha. The missile followed its designated trajectory and successfully completed its flight towards the intended target, meeting all technical and operational parameters.
Bright Sky Trail Sparks Curiosity
During the launch, a luminous trail was observed in the sky, which initially surprised local residents. Many people mistook it for a mysterious or astronomical phenomenon. Soon after, videos and images of the glowing sky began circulating on social media, leading to widespread speculation and discussion.
However, defence experts clarified that the bright trail was a normal visual effect caused by the missile’s high-speed flight through the atmosphere and its propulsion system.
Agni-5: A Key Pillar of India’s Strategic Defence
Agni-5 is one of India’s most advanced long-range ballistic missiles, with an estimated strike range of over 5,000 kilometres. It is capable of covering a large part of Asia and significantly enhances India’s strategic deterrence capability.
The missile is equipped with advanced navigation, guidance, and targeting systems, making it highly accurate and reliable in operational conditions.
Purpose of the Test
Defence officials stated that such tests are conducted to validate the performance, accuracy, and reliability of missile systems under real conditions. The successful trial confirms the readiness of the system for strategic deployment if required.
The test was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command and was declared fully successful after meeting all required parameters.
Regional Reactions
Following the test, reports of the bright sky phenomenon triggered discussions not only in India but also in neighbouring regions. The visibility of the light trail up to Bangladesh further added to public curiosity.
Experts, however, reiterated that such visual effects are common during high-altitude missile tests and do not indicate any unusual or abnormal activity.
