Desk : India has achieved a significant milestone in its strategic defence capabilities with the successful test of an advanced version of the Agni series missile equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology.
According to defence sources, the test was conducted successfully and met all required technical parameters. During the trial, the missile accurately hit its designated target, confirming its enhanced precision, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
This achievement is attributed to the joint efforts of the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the armed forces, reflecting India’s growing strength in indigenous defence technology development.
The MIRV capability enables a single missile to carry multiple warheads, each capable of striking different targets independently. With this successful test, India joins a select group of nations possessing such advanced strategic missile technology.
The development is being seen as a major enhancement of India’s deterrence capability and strategic defence posture. Defence experts believe that this advancement significantly strengthens India’s ability to respond to evolving global security challenges.
The Agni missile family has long been a cornerstone of India’s strategic defence system, and this latest upgrade further enhances its operational reach and effectiveness.
Officials and experts have described the test as a major step forward in India’s pursuit of self-reliance in defence technology and a clear indicator of its growing strategic capabilities on the global stage.
