Desk: Abu Dhabi: Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates has announced an urgent humanitarian assistance package through the UAE Aid Agency to support those affected by the two earthquakes that struck off the northern coast near the city of Morón in Venezuela.
The UAE has allocated USD 10 million for relief and early recovery efforts aimed at assisting affected communities in the disaster-hit region.
The emergency response reflects the UAE’s continued humanitarian commitment to supporting disaster victims worldwide, providing essential assistance, and helping communities recover from natural calamities and crises.
The initiative focuses on accelerating early recovery, promoting stability, and delivering essential supplies, including food aid, medical assistance, and shelter materials to those impacted.
Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, highlighted the UAE’s global humanitarian role in responding to emergencies and disasters. He said the response is rooted in the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and guided by the vision of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose commitment continues to drive international relief efforts.
He noted that the affected population is currently facing severe humanitarian challenges and urgent living needs, making immediate assistance essential.
Al Ameri further stated that the UAE Aid Agency is working in coordination with Venezuelan authorities and relevant international organizations to ensure the swift delivery of food, medical supplies, and shelter equipment, with the aim of easing the impact of the earthquakes on affected communities.
