New Delhi : Tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China remain far from fully resolved, with frequent close encounters continuing between the two armies. In a significant disclosure, the outgoing Chief of the Indian Army stated that Indian and Chinese troops come face-to-face nearly three times a day along the border.
According to him, while the situation is being managed and remains under control, ground realities along the LAC continue to be complex and sensitive. Patrols from both sides often operate in close proximity, increasing the likelihood of brief confrontations or face-off situations.
He further highlighted that future wars will not be limited to conventional battlefield engagements. Modern conflicts, he noted, will increasingly involve advanced technology, cyber capabilities, information warfare, and rapid-response systems. The nature of warfare is evolving rapidly, requiring armed forces to continuously adapt and modernize.
The Army Chief emphasized the importance of sustained dialogue and established military communication mechanisms between the two countries to prevent unintended escalation along the border. However, he also acknowledged that a lack of mutual trust on the ground remains a major challenge.
Experts note that the remarks come at a time when India and China continue to navigate a tense post-2020 standoff environment, with multiple friction points still requiring careful management and de-escalation efforts.
