Washington: US President Donald Trump abruptly ended an interview with NBC News after a tense exchange with journalist Kristen Welker over his allegations of election fraud and media bias.
The interview, conducted for NBC’s flagship political program Meet the Press, became increasingly confrontational when Welker repeatedly questioned Trump about his claims that the 2020 presidential election and other recent elections had been manipulated. She asked the president to provide evidence supporting those allegations, leading to a heated back-and-forth discussion.
During the interview, Trump criticized major US media organizations, accusing them of unfair coverage and political bias. The conversation also touched on issues related to the January 6 Capitol riot and other controversial political matters.
According to reports, Trump eventually expressed frustration with the questioning, stating that he had “had enough” of the interview. He then removed his microphone and walked off the set, bringing the conversation to an abrupt end.
The incident quickly attracted widespread attention across political and media circles in the United States, with clips of the exchange circulating on television and social media platforms.
Despite the dramatic conclusion, Welker later indicated that she spoke with Trump after the interview and suggested that future discussions between the two could still take place.
