Desk : A tribal community in Arunachal Pradesh has alleged that Chinese forces have encroached upon traditional and strategic areas along the India-China border in Upper Subansiri district.
Members of the local Naah tribal community and associated organizations have claimed that over the past several years, Chinese troops have entered and taken control of large stretches of their grazing lands, agricultural fields, and hunting grounds. They further alleged increased construction activity, including temporary structures and road development, in these sensitive border areas.
The community has submitted a formal memorandum to the district administration, urging immediate intervention. The letter warns that the situation is becoming increasingly serious and could severely impact the livelihood of local residents if not addressed promptly.
They have also demanded that both the central and state governments assess the ground situation and take necessary steps to prevent further alleged encroachment.
Local authorities, meanwhile, have stated that the matter is under examination and verification is underway.
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh has repeatedly rejected China’s territorial claims over the state, reaffirming that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and that its sovereignty is non-negotiable.
The issue once again highlights ongoing sensitivities along the India-China border and the concerns of local communities living in the region.
