Top LeT Commander Killed in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Attack

Desk : A senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, Sheikh Yousuf Afridi, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident comes amid a continuing rise in targeted killings and militant-related violence in the region.

According to local reports, armed attackers ambushed Afridi and opened fire on him multiple times at close range. The assault was swift and precise, leaving him no chance to escape. He died on the spot, while the attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Sheikh Yousuf Afridi was considered a key operational figure within Lashkar-e-Taiba and was reportedly active in coordinating the group’s regional activities. He is believed to have maintained close links with the outfit’s top leadership. Security agencies had been monitoring his movements due to his involvement in militant operations.

Following the incident, Pakistani security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, and the identity of the assailants remains unknown.

Security analysts suggest that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has witnessed an increase in internal rivalries and targeted eliminations among militant networks in recent months, further complicating the already fragile security situation in the region.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack and to identify those responsible for the killing.
