Desk : At least seven people were killed and several others injured in twin explosions that struck Pakistan’s northwestern district of Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday. The incident triggered panic in the area, prompting security forces to launch a large-scale search operation.

According to police officials, the explosions were caused by improvised explosive devices planted along a roadside. The second blast occurred shortly after the first, increasing the number of casualties and causing widespread fear among residents. Authorities are still verifying the identities of the victims, while reports suggest that both civilians and security personnel may be among the dead.

Emergency response teams and rescue workers rushed to the scene soon after the explosions and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said that several of the wounded are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could rise further.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and began collecting evidence from the blast site. Bomb disposal experts and investigators are examining the nature of the explosives used and working to identify those responsible for the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the explosions so far.

Bannu and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have witnessed a resurgence of militant violence in recent years. The province, which borders Afghanistan, has remained vulnerable to attacks by extremist groups despite ongoing counterterrorism operations by Pakistani security forces.

The latest incident has once again highlighted the security challenges facing Pakistan’s northwestern region. Authorities have condemned the attack and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. Security measures have also been tightened across sensitive locations in the province to prevent further incidents.
