Desk : Human rights activist Dr. Amjad Ayub Mirza has appealed to the Indian government to take urgent notice of the deteriorating situation in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), alleging increasing repression against civilians in the region.

In a video message, Mirza urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise the issue at the highest level and called for an emergency meeting involving the Union Cabinet, political parties, opposition leaders, and relevant ministries to discuss the crisis and prevent further violence.

He claimed that authorities were preparing to intensify action against protest leaders and ordinary citizens. According to Mirza, women participating in demonstrations across major cities have also become targets of the crackdown, with reports of arrests emerging from several areas.

Appealing for immediate intervention, Mirza urged the Indian government to utilize all available diplomatic and humanitarian channels to safeguard civilian lives. He also called on the people of PoJK to support efforts aimed at drawing international attention to the situation.

The appeal comes amid ongoing unrest in several parts of PoJK, including Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, and other towns, where protests have been organized against government policies, rising economic hardships, and administrative measures. Demonstrators have accused authorities of using force to disperse protests and suppress dissent.

Recent reports from Rawalakot indicated clashes between security personnel and protesters, resulting in deaths, injuries, and escalating tensions across the region. The developments have raised concerns about the security and humanitarian situation in PoJK.
