Desk : Pakistan has launched a major ground operation along its border with Afghanistan, claiming to have killed 29 militants in intelligence-based operations targeting militant hideouts. According to Pakistani authorities, the operation was carried out in response to recent attacks on security forces in different parts of the country.
Officials said the security forces targeted suspected militant positions in the border region during the operation and destroyed several hideouts. The government described the action as part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism and strengthen security in the country’s border areas.
The operation came a day after an attack on the Pakistan Rangers headquarters in Karachi, in which three security personnel were killed. Pakistani forces later said they neutralised three attackers and arrested another suspect during the counter-operation.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused militants belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) of using Afghan territory to launch cross-border attacks. The Taliban-led government in Afghanistan has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining that its soil is not being used against any neighbouring country.
The latest military operation is expected to further strain already tense relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as both countries continue to exchange accusations over cross-border militancy and security concerns.
