Desk : Uncertainty continues over the proposed second round of talks between Iran and the United States, with Tehran confirming that no date has yet been finalized for the next phase of negotiations. Iran has also reiterated its distrust of the United States, stating that progress remains difficult under the current circumstances.
According to officials from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, despite recent diplomatic efforts, significant differences persist between the two sides. Tehran has accused Washington of maintaining a rigid and one-sided approach, particularly on issues related to Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security concerns, preventing any meaningful breakthrough.
A senior Iranian official stated that talks can move forward only if a clear and balanced framework is established. However, he added that no such agreement has been reached so far. Reaffirming Iran’s position, the official said that “no trust can be placed in the enemy,” stressing the need for concrete guarantees before any further negotiations.
On the other hand, the United States has indicated its willingness to continue diplomatic engagement, though no formal announcement regarding the next meeting has been made. Previous rounds of talks also ended without achieving any final agreement.
Experts believe that deep divisions remain between the two countries over Iran’s nuclear programme, economic sanctions, and broader regional security issues, which continue to hinder diplomatic progress.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation, as failure in diplomatic efforts could once again escalate tensions in the West Asia region.
