New Delhi : India is moving ahead with strengthening its strategic defence capabilities as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is reportedly in the advanced stages of preparing for the testing of the country’s most advanced intercontinental ballistic missile, Agni-6.
According to sources, the Agni-6 missile is expected to have a range of over 10,000 kilometres. It is also likely to be equipped with Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) technology, which enables a single missile to carry and deliver multiple warheads to different targets simultaneously.
Officials indicate that the DRDO is technically ready for the project, while formal clearance from the central government is awaited for final testing and subsequent development phases.
Reports suggest that the new missile under the Agni series will be significantly more advanced than its predecessors, with enhanced capabilities to penetrate modern missile defence systems. It is seen as a major step in strengthening India’s strategic deterrence posture.
