Desk : Iran has put forward a new three-phase diplomatic proposal to the United States aimed at reviving talks and reducing escalating tensions between the two countries. The framework includes an initial ceasefire phase, followed by discussions on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, and finally negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme.
According to sources, Tehran conveyed the proposal through intermediaries, stating that it is open to broader negotiations but only under a structured and sequential framework built on mutual trust.
First Phase: Ceasefire Demand
In the first phase, Iran has called for a complete halt to all military actions. This includes ending ongoing regional hostilities and preventing any further escalation. Tehran has emphasized that a durable peace cannot be achieved without an immediate ceasefire.
Second Phase: Hormuz Strait Discussions
The second phase proposes talks on the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route for global energy supplies. The waterway is considered vital for international oil transportation, and any instability in the region is seen as having significant implications for global energy markets.
Third Phase: Nuclear Negotiations
In the final phase, Iran has agreed to discuss issues related to its nuclear programme. The United States has long expressed concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities, while Tehran maintains that its programme is peaceful in nature.
The proposal has triggered renewed diplomatic activity in international circles. Analysts view it as an attempt to restructure the negotiation process by prioritizing security and strategic concerns before addressing the nuclear issue.
There has been no official response from the United States regarding the proposal so far.
