Desk : Adani Defence & Aerospace has launched a major ₹2,500 crore defence manufacturing project in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, aimed at developing one of South Asia’s largest integrated private missile production ecosystems.
The project is designed to cover the full spectrum of missile manufacturing — from raw material processing to final assembly and systems integration — within a single advanced industrial complex. Officials and company sources describe it as a significant step toward strengthening India’s defence self-reliance under the “Make in India” initiative.
The foundation of the project was laid in the presence of senior political leaders and government representatives, marking the formal beginning of construction work at the site.
According to the company, the facility will not be limited to assembly operations alone but will also include advanced capabilities for producing key components and defence-grade materials used in missile systems. This makes it one of the most comprehensive private-sector defence manufacturing setups planned in India so far.
The project is expected to generate around 5,000 direct jobs, along with a wider employment impact through supporting industries and MSMEs that will become part of its supply chain. The initiative is also likely to boost industrial development in Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the defence manufacturing sector.
Defence experts believe that such investments will enhance India’s domestic production capacity, reduce import dependency, and strengthen strategic capabilities in advanced weapon systems.
Once operational, the Shivpuri complex is expected to emerge as a key hub in India’s growing private defence manufacturing landscape, supporting both technological innovation and large-scale industrial production.
