Beijing/New Delhi: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit India at the invitation of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to participate in the 16th Meeting of the BRICS National Security Advisers and High Representatives, scheduled to be held from June 22 to 23. The announcement was made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of China, Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, will attend the high-level security dialogue in India.
The visit comes at a time when India-China relations are gradually showing signs of improvement. Wang Yi had earlier visited New Delhi last year and held discussions with NSA Ajit Doval during the 24th Meeting of the Special Representatives in August.
During those talks, both sides noted that peace and tranquility had been maintained in the border areas, and emphasized the importance of sustaining stability along the border for the overall development of bilateral relations.
In recent months, high-level engagements between the two countries have continued. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin last year, following their earlier meeting in Kazan in October 2024, where both leaders acknowledged positive momentum in bilateral ties.
The two sides had also reiterated that India and China are development partners, not rivals, and stressed that differences should not turn into disputes.
According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), a stable and cooperative relationship between India and China serves the interests of their 2.8 billion people and is essential for a multipolar Asia and world order aligned with 21st-century realities.
