New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has sent a special message for India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing admiration for the Indian leader and highlighting strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
During a live event marking the 250th anniversary of US independence, Trump said he is a “big fan” of PM Modi and that he “loves India very much.” The remarks came as US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor was attending an American Independence Day celebration held at the US Embassy in New Delhi. The President reportedly spoke over the phone during the event.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier spoken to Ambassador Sergio Gor in India, according to officials familiar with the development.
Deepening Strategic Partnership Under Leadership of Trump and Modi
During the event, Ambassador Sergio Gor stated that the partnership between the United States and India is expected to deepen further under the leadership of President Trump and Prime Minister Modi. He described the relationship as a strategic and open partnership, where personal ties between the two leaders play a significant role.
Gor added that whenever he speaks with President Trump, he often hears positive remarks about PM Modi. According to him, one of Trump’s first questions is frequently: “How is my friend, the Prime Minister?”
He emphasized that the relationship is not new but has developed over a long period of engagement and mutual understanding.
Economic and Strategic Cooperation Expanding
Sergio Gor further said that both countries are working together to expand economic and strategic cooperation. He noted that the partnership helps open markets, promote innovation, and create job opportunities in both countries.
He added that “America First” does not mean working alone, but rather identifying opportunities that benefit both nations on a weekly basis.
