Jakarta : Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the deep-rooted cultural, historical and strategic ties between India and Indonesia, describing the relationship between the two nations as one built on shared heritage, mutual trust and common values.
During his visit to Indonesia, Prime Minister Modi said that the friendship between India and Indonesia goes beyond diplomatic relations and is connected through centuries-old civilisational links. He underlined the influence of shared cultural traditions, including the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the symbolism of Garuda, which continue to strengthen people-to-people connections between the two countries.
PM Modi said that India and Indonesia share a common vision on several global challenges, including the fight against terrorism. Emphasising the need for stronger international cooperation against terrorism and related threats, he said both countries remain committed to working together for peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to Indonesia’s leadership and people for standing with India after the Pahalgam terror attack. He said that terrorism remains a serious challenge for humanity and requires a united global response.
During discussions, both sides focused on expanding cooperation in areas such as defence, maritime security, trade, technology and regional stability. The two countries reiterated their commitment to strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership and working together for shared growth and development.
PM Modi said that India and Indonesia share a glorious past rooted in cultural connections, a strong present based on mutual trust and a future filled with opportunities for greater cooperation and prosperity.
