India’s New High Commissioner Clarifies: Khalistan Issue Is Canada’s Responsibility

File Photo

Ottawa : India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh Patnaik, has taken a strong stance over the allegations related to the Nijjar case, urging the Canadian government to substantiate its claims in a court of law rather than making public accusations.

He stated that serious allegations cannot be based on political statements or media narratives and must be supported by credible and concrete evidence. He further emphasized that, so far, no public proof has been presented by Canada to support the allegations made against India.

Patnaik underlined that any fair resolution of the matter can only be achieved through proper legal procedures. If Canada possesses any facts or evidence, they should be submitted before a court so that the truth can be established through due process.

The remarks are being viewed as a significant response amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Canada. India has consistently maintained that it does not accept unsubstantiated allegations and insists that such matters must be resolved through judicial mechanisms.

Tensions between the two countries escalated after the killing of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada in 2023, following which both nations have engaged in a series of diplomatic disagreements and exchanges of allegations.
