Jakarta: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Jakarta, Indonesia. A large gathering of Indian community members turned up to greet the Prime Minister, waving the tricolour and chanting patriotic slogans such as “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.”
PM Modi is on the first leg of his three-nation foreign tour and arrived in Indonesia at the invitation of President Prabowo Subianto. He was received at the airport by the Indonesian President himself, where a formal ceremonial welcome was accorded in line with diplomatic protocol.
At the hotel as well, members of the Indian community extended a vibrant welcome to the Prime Minister. Many expressed pride and happiness over India’s growing global presence and strengthening ties with Indonesia. Cultural performances were also presented by children and young members of the diaspora.
PM Modi interacted with members of the Indian community and thanked them for the warm reception. He highlighted the role of the Indian diaspora in promoting India’s culture, values, and strengthening bilateral relations between nations.
During the visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Prabowo Subianto. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, defence, maritime security, connectivity, digital technology, energy, and cultural exchange.
The visit is considered significant in further strengthening India’s Act East Policy and deepening strategic engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
