Overnight Missile and Drone Strikes on Kyiv Cause Explosions and Damage

Kyiv: Ukraine’s capital Kyiv came under a large-scale overnight attack involving missiles and drones, triggering multiple explosions, fires, and damage to residential areas, according to reports.

The strikes occurred late Wednesday night and continued into early Thursday, with residents reporting sustained air defence activity followed by powerful blasts across the city. Air-raid sirens were activated, and authorities warned civilians to take shelter as the situation escalated.

Ukrainian officials said that residential buildings were hit in several districts of Kyiv, causing structural damage and fires. Emergency services were deployed to affected areas to extinguish blazes and rescue people potentially trapped under debris.

According to reports, the attack involved waves of both ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), marking another intense escalation in aerial assaults on the Ukrainian capital. Civilians were seen taking shelter in metro stations and underground facilities during the strikes.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier warned of possible large-scale attacks based on intelligence inputs and urged citizens to remain alert and follow safety protocols.

Officials have not yet released complete casualty figures, but early reports indicate injuries and significant material damage in multiple locations. Rescue operations and damage assessments are ongoing.

The latest strike comes amid continued hostilities in the region, with Kyiv frequently targeted in combined missile and drone attacks as the conflict persists.
