New Delhi: A significant defence agreement between India and Russia has officially come into force, further strengthening strategic ties between the two nations. Under the pact, both countries will be able to station troops, warships, and military aircraft on each other’s territory under agreed conditions.

According to reports, the agreement allows both sides to deploy a limited number of military personnel and defence assets in each other’s regions. The move is expected to enhance joint military exercises, training programs, and operational coordination between the armed forces of both nations.

The pact also provides access to ports, airbases, and other military infrastructure. Warships will be able to receive fuel, maintenance, and logistical support, while military aircraft will get air traffic control, navigation, and related operational assistance.

Defence experts believe the agreement will deepen long-standing military cooperation between India and Russia. India could gain strategic access to key Russian regions, while Russia may benefit from India’s important position in the Indian Ocean region.

The deal comes at a time when global geopolitical equations are rapidly shifting. Analysts say the agreement could play an important role in boosting mutual trust, defence readiness, and long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries.
