Massive Quakes Hit Venezuela, India Sends Humanitarian Relief Mission

Desk : Venezuela has been struck by devastating twin earthquakes that have caused widespread destruction across several regions of the country. The quakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck within a short span of time, leading to collapsed buildings, damaged infrastructure, and large-scale panic among residents.

According to early government and international reports, hundreds of people are feared dead, while thousands have been injured. Rescue operations are underway, with emergency teams racing against time to pull survivors out from the rubble.

As part of the mission, the Indian Armed Forces and Air Force have dispatched humanitarian aid using C-17 Globemaster military transport aircraft. The operation reflects India’s commitment to rapid international disaster response and humanitarian support.

41-Member Medical Team and Relief Supplies Sent

India has sent a 41-member specialized medical team, including doctors and emergency care experts, to assist in treating the injured in affected regions.

Along with the team, more than 35 tons of relief material, including medicines, surgical equipment, and emergency supplies, have been airlifted to Venezuela.

Deployment of ‘Bhishm Cube’

A key highlight of the mission is the deployment of India’s indigenous ‘Bhishm Cube’, a mobile modular field hospital system.

This advanced system can be rapidly set up in disaster zones and is designed to provide emergency surgical care, trauma treatment, and critical medical support to large numbers of patients in difficult conditions.

India’s Humanitarian Stand

India has consistently played a proactive role in global disaster relief efforts, and Operation Amistad further strengthens this image.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over the tragedy and assured full support from India. Venezuela’s leadership also expressed gratitude for India’s swift humanitarian assistance.

The operation highlights India’s growing role as a global first responder in times of natural disasters, combining military capability with humanitarian outreach.
