Tehran: Iran has made a series of strong military claims, stating that its forces have destroyed around 180 drones and also targeted a US F-35 stealth fighter jet. The claims were made by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, amid rising tensions in the region.
According to Ghalibaf, Iranian defence forces successfully intercepted and neutralised multiple aerial threats, including a large number of drones. He also asserted that Iran’s air defence systems were capable of engaging advanced stealth aircraft such as the F-35, calling it evidence of the country’s growing military and technological capabilities.
The Iranian speaker said the incidents were not isolated but part of broader operational successes by Iran’s defence forces, which he claimed have strengthened the country’s aerial security infrastructure.
The statement comes at a time of continued geopolitical tension in West Asia, particularly between Iran and the United States, where indirect diplomatic engagement has also been reported alongside military posturing.
Iran has previously made similar claims regarding its ability to counter advanced US military aircraft, including the F-35 stealth fighter. However, such assertions have not been independently verified.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation or response from US defence authorities regarding Iran’s latest claims.
The developments are expected to further add to regional uncertainty, with international observers closely monitoring the situation.
