New Delhi/Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday outlined India’s vision for Artificial Intelligence (AI), emphasizing that its democratization is essential to ensure that its benefits reach every section of society. He was addressing the 10th edition of the VivaTech Summit in Paris.
Welcoming global technology companies and startups, PM Modi said the government is continuously simplifying regulations and improving ease of doing business in India. He invited participants to visit the India Pavilion and experience the strength and energy of India’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem.
He said the India Pavilion reflects the country’s emerging technological capabilities, showcasing innovations such as the world’s first 3D-printed rocket engine, advanced genetic engineering-based therapies, and AI solutions for detecting cancer and other critical diseases.
Highlighting the importance of AI, the Prime Minister said that for India, AI means inclusivity and ensuring that technological progress benefits all. He cited the example of “Sarlaben,” a voice-based AI assistant developed by Amul, which helps dairy farmers manage livestock nutrition and health.
PM Modi also highlighted India’s achievements in space technology, noting that India became the first country to land near the south pole of the Moon. He further underlined the country’s progress in digital governance through initiatives such as SVAMITVA and PM GatiShakti.
He said India has emerged as a global leader in digital payments, with nearly half of the world’s real-time digital transactions taking place through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). He also noted that UPI is now available in France, including at landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Paris airports.
Referring to the Digital Locker system, the Prime Minister said it has enabled nearly 700 million people to access verified documents digitally without the need for physical paperwork.
PM Modi said India has undergone a rapid transformation in the last decade driven by technology, including the world’s largest digital identity system and digital payment infrastructure. He highlighted the use of technology in financial inclusion, education, telemedicine, agriculture, and other sectors.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also met leading business executives in Paris and discussed investment opportunities in India. He attended the G7 Summit and held bilateral discussions with several world leaders, including US President Donald Trump.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in sectors such as shipping, logistics, railways, construction, and artificial intelligence.
