Desk : In a significant diplomatic development amid ongoing discussions over possible Iran-US engagement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has returned from Islamabad without holding any meeting with US representatives.
According to sources, the visit was considered important in the context of regional diplomatic efforts and potential indirect dialogue between Tehran and Washington. However, the Iranian side had already made it clear that no direct engagement with US officials would take place during the visit.
Pakistan played the role of a mediator and attempted to facilitate communication between the two sides. High-level meetings were held in Islamabad as part of these efforts, but no direct Iran-US talks materialized.
Iran reiterated its position that any dialogue with the United States would only be possible through indirect channels or third-party mediation. Meanwhile, there has been no official response from the US side regarding the developments in Islamabad.
Experts believe the incident reflects the continuing complexities in West Asia’s geopolitical landscape and the persistent strain in Iran-US relations. However, both sides have not completely ruled out future diplomatic engagement.
