Desk : In Balochistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has accused Pakistan-linked security forces and alleged state-backed groups of involvement in the deaths of two young men in separate incidents in Kech and Panjgur districts. The claims have further intensified concerns over enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in the region.
According to reports cited by The Balochistan Post, the BYC alleged that 27-year-old Mehran Baloch, son of Muhammad Sharif and a resident of Buleda in Kech district, was shot dead on May 21 while he was on his way to his shop in Surap Bazaar. The group claims that unidentified armed men opened fire on him in broad daylight, killing him instantly. BYC described him as a young shopkeeper from a financially struggling family and alleged that the attackers are linked to what it calls “state-backed death squads” operating in Balochistan despite heavy security presence and surveillance.
In a separate incident, 21-year-old Muhsin, a driver from Suleman Bazaar in Paroom, Panjgur district, was found dead after being missing for 66 days. The BYC stated that he was allegedly detained at the Jeerak checkpoint on March 16, 2026, after which he disappeared without any formal charges or legal proceedings. His body was later reportedly recovered from the Kallag Koor area of Paroom during the Eid holidays.
The BYC alleges that Muhsin was forcibly disappeared by personnel of the Frontier Corps and later killed in custody. The organization further claims that he was the sole breadwinner of his family.
The BYC said both incidents reflect a broader pattern of enforced disappearances, unlawful detentions, and custodial killings in Balochistan, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
