Pune: Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said that Operation Sindoor demonstrated India’s ability to respond with precision, resolve and strength when faced with provocation. He said the operation not only showcased the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces but also sent a clear message to adversaries about India’s preparedness and determination.

Addressing the Passing Out Parade of the 150th course at the Khetrapal Parade Ground of the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, General Dwivedi said modern security challenges are evolving rapidly and often extend beyond conventional battlefields. He noted that Operation Sindoor highlighted how national will, combined with military capability and strategic planning, can deliver an effective response to threats.

The Army Chief emphasized the importance of jointness among the Army, Navy and Air Force, stating that the success of Operation Sindoor was a reflection of seamless coordination between the three services. He said integrated military operations have become essential in the changing nature of warfare and are critical to safeguarding national interests.

Highlighting future challenges, General Dwivedi said that warfare is increasingly being shaped by technology, cyber capabilities, drones, information warfare and multi-domain operations. He urged young officers to prepare themselves for these emerging threats while maintaining the highest standards of military professionalism and leadership.

A total of 355 cadets graduated during the Passing Out Parade, including 24 cadets from 12 friendly foreign countries. Recalling his own days at the NDA, the Army Chief said it was a matter of pride for him to return to the academy as the Reviewing Officer more than four decades after graduating from the institution.

The Army Chief’s remarks come at a time when India’s military leadership is placing renewed emphasis on modernization, technological advancement and greater integration among the armed forces. Defence experts believe that Operation Sindoor has emerged as a significant example of India’s evolving military doctrine and its ability to respond effectively to security challenges.
