Navratri holds a special significance in Sanatan Dharma. Out of the four Navratris observed throughout the year, two—Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri—are especially important for householders, while the other two (Gupt Navratri) are mainly observed by spiritual practitioners.
On the auspicious occasion of the Chaitra month, Chaitra Navratri is beginning today, March 19, 2026 (Thursday). This day also marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and is celebrated as Gudi Padwa in many parts of India.
During these nine days, devotees worship the nine divine forms of Goddess Durga. Each day is dedicated to a different form, and prayers are offered seeking strength, prosperity, and peace.
