Desk : A major explosion near the hotel where French President Emmanuel Macron was staying during his visit to Syria created panic in the capital city of Damascus. Several people were reportedly injured in the blast, but President Macron remained safe and continued with his scheduled programme.
According to reports, two powerful explosions took place near the hotel area in Damascus, following which security agencies immediately cordoned off the region and launched an investigation. Initial information suggests that around 18 people were injured in the incident, including some security personnel.
The explosions occurred after President Macron’s convoy had already moved out of the area. Officials confirmed that the French President was not harmed in the incident. The reason behind the blast and the people responsible for it have not yet been confirmed. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.
