New Delhi : In a significant diplomatic development, India and China have taken a step toward easing long-standing tensions, as National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held what both sides described as “constructive talks” aimed at normalising bilateral relations.
The meeting took place in New Delhi on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisers’ gathering, where key issues such as border management, regional security, and bilateral cooperation were discussed in detail.
According to official sources, both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and stability along the border, which remains a crucial foundation for improving overall relations. The discussions also reflected a mutual understanding that sustained dialogue is essential to rebuild trust between the two countries.
Indian officials indicated that the process of engagement between New Delhi and Beijing is gradually moving in a positive direction, with continued diplomatic communication playing a key role in easing tensions.
The talks come at a time when India and China have been working through a phase of strained relations following border clashes in recent years. However, recent high-level engagements suggest a cautious but noticeable effort toward stabilisation.
Experts note that such meetings between top security and diplomatic officials are important for confidence-building, though complex issues like the boundary dispute remain unresolved.
The latest interaction is also seen as significant in the broader context of regional stability and global geopolitics, given that both India and China are major Asian powers whose relationship has far-reaching international implications.
