Kuwait City: Kuwait witnessed a tense security situation on Wednesday after loud explosions were reported across several parts of the country. The Kuwaiti air defence system was activated and successfully engaged multiple incoming aerial threats, according to official military statements.

The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army confirmed that the explosion-like sounds heard by residents were the result of interception operations carried out by air defence units responding to hostile missiles and drones. The military stated, “Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks. Any explosion sounds are a result of interception operations against these threats.”

Following the incident, the Ministry of Defence issued an urgent advisory urging the public not to approach or handle any debris, shrapnel, or unidentified objects that may have fallen on the ground, warning that such materials could pose serious safety risks.

Ministry spokesperson Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi appealed to citizens and expatriates to remain highly vigilant and immediately report any suspicious remains to emergency services via the 112 hotline. He also urged the public to avoid spreading or relying on unverified reports and to depend only on official sources for accurate updates.

Meanwhile, unverified claims circulated across regional media outlets regarding the possible motive behind the attacks. Iranian state broadcaster IRIB claimed that the strikes were directed at American military installations in Kuwait, describing them as a response to recent US actions in the region, including the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, and Qeshm Island. However, these claims have not been independently verified.

The development comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf region, where geopolitical and military friction between the United States and Iran continues to escalate.
