New Delhi : South African Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile, along with his delegation, met Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday as part of his six-day official visit to India aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, Mashatile held talks with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. The two leaders discussed ways to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), digital innovation, and infrastructure development.
Following the meeting, Jaishankar stated on social media platform X that he was pleased to meet the South African Deputy President and appreciated his strong commitment to enhancing the longstanding partnership between India and South Africa. He added that both sides agreed on the need for closer coordination in international forums and multilateral institutions.
As part of his visit, Mashatile and South Africa’s Minister of Small Business Development, Stella Tembisa Ndabeni-Abrahams, visited Dilli Haat in New Delhi on Sunday. The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to explore India’s cultural diversity, traditional crafts, and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Sharing his experience on X, Mashatile described Dilli Haat as a vibrant showcase of India’s rich cultural heritage, where visitors can experience art, music, dance, and handicrafts representing different states of the country.
Speaking during the visit, he said the delegation was keen to understand how India supports small and medium enterprises, promotes innovation in the digital economy, and develops infrastructure. He noted that meetings with companies from various sectors would help South Africa learn from India’s development model and economic initiatives.
Mashatile arrived in India on May 29 for a working visit aimed at giving fresh momentum to bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors. During his stay, he is also scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu and participate in engagements in Hyderabad before concluding his visit on June 3.
