The Hague/New Delhi: India and the Netherlands have officially upgraded their bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, marking a significant milestone in diplomatic and economic engagement between the two countries. The decision was taken following high-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten in The Hague.
During the meeting, both leaders adopted an ambitious roadmap aimed at strengthening cooperation in key areas including trade, investment, defence, clean energy, innovation, and advanced technology over the coming years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the upgraded partnership reflects mutual trust and a shared vision for development. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten described the agreement as a major step toward a future-oriented and innovation-driven collaboration.
The discussions placed strong emphasis on high technology, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and clean energy, with both sides agreeing to deepen cooperation in these strategic sectors. A recent agreement between India’s Tata Electronics and Dutch semiconductor equipment giant ASML has also been highlighted as a key development in this direction.
Experts believe that this strategic partnership will not only strengthen bilateral relations but also enhance India’s presence in Europe as a growing hub for technology, trade, and supply chain resilience.
The move comes at a time when India is actively expanding its global partnerships in emerging technologies and green energy, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving global economic order.
