New Delhi :Tensions have escalated after reports of an attack on Indian crude oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical maritime oil routes. The incident has raised serious concerns over maritime security and global energy supply chains.

According to reports, two India-flagged oil tankers were allegedly targeted by patrol boats linked to Iran’s naval forces. While the vessels sustained minor damage, all crew members are reported safe. Following the incident, both ships were forced to alter their course as a precautionary measure.

Reacting strongly to the development, the Government of India lodged a formal protest with Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador and conveyed its deep concern over the incident, emphasizing that such actions against commercial vessels in international waters are unacceptable.

India reiterated its commitment to the principle of free and safe navigation under international law and said it will take all necessary diplomatic steps to safeguard its strategic and energy interests.
