Political Row After Bura Narsaiah Goud’s Claim on PoK Return

New Delhi: A fresh political controversy has erupted during the special parliamentary discussions on the Delimitation Bill after a BJP leader made a striking claim regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

BJP leader Bura Narsaiah Goud stated that once the delimitation process is implemented, parliamentary constituencies could also be defined for PoK, which, according to him, would eventually pave the way for its “return” to India.

He claimed that after the redrawing of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seats, PoK could be included in the democratic structure of India. He further suggested that in such a scenario, elections could eventually be held in the region, allowing representatives from PoK to enter the Indian Parliament.

According to him, this process would symbolically and politically strengthen India’s long-standing position that PoK is an integral part of the country.

The remarks have triggered a political debate, with opposition parties questioning the intent behind linking the Delimitation Bill with territorial claims. Meanwhile, the government maintains that delimitation is a constitutional exercise aimed at restructuring parliamentary representation based on demographic changes.

Notably, the Delimitation Bill and related discussions on women’s reservation have already sparked heated debates in Parliament, with sharp exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition.

The issue is now expected to remain a talking point in political circles in the coming days as reactions continue to pour in.
