New Delhi: There has been a recent change of power in America. After President Biden took over as president, a section of Indian intellectuals were worried that the relationship between the two countries could be broken. During the tenure of Donald Trump, the friendship between the two countries increased. Recent developments suggest that Biden has also decided to strengthen it. This is the reason why US Defense Secretary Austin arrived in Delhi on Friday on a three-day visit to India. Austin is scheduled to meet Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to India and he will also meet India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. This is the first visit of a top official of the Biden administration. It is likely that China and important regional security issues will be discussed between the leaders of the two countries.
During the meeting of the quad countries, Joe Biden also showed keenness to work with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The US Defense Secretary is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. He can meet the External Affairs Minister on Saturday. Austin will be visiting India from March 19 to 21.
India and the US have been working closely with each other after the Chinese attempts to change the status quo in the eastern Ladakh area in April-May last year. The US side also helped by providing timely defence hardware supplies during the conflict apart from sharing important satellite feed and inputs.
