High Protein Sattu Buttermilk – A Traditional Summer Health Drink

In the scorching heat of summer, the body needs hydration, cooling, and sustained energy. A traditional combination of sattu (roasted gram flour) and buttermilk serves exactly this purpose. Rich in protein, fiber, and probiotics, this drink is both refreshing and nourishing. Popular in regions like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, it is now gaining recognition across India as a natural energy drink.

Ingredients

  • Sattu (roasted gram flour) – 3 tablespoons
  • Cold buttermilk – 2 cups
  • Roasted cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Black salt – to taste
  • Regular salt – to taste
  • Lemon juice – 1 teaspoon
  • Finely chopped fresh coriander – 1 tablespoon
  • Finely chopped green chili (optional) – 1 small

Method of Preparation

Take a large mixing bowl and pour in cold buttermilk. Gradually add sattu while stirring continuously to ensure there are no lumps.

Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, and regular salt. Whisk the mixture well until it becomes smooth and slightly frothy.

Now add lemon juice and mix again. If you prefer a slightly spicy flavor, you may add finely chopped green chili.
