New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
The two leaders exchanged views on the evolving security situation in West Asia. Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over rising regional tensions and strongly condemned attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He reiterated the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy for the early restoration of peace and stability.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Amir for his personal attention to the safety and well-being of the large Indian community living in Kuwait.
The conversation comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has said that restrictions related to the Strait of Hormuz will remain in place until a final agreement is reached with Iran.
Speaking to reporters in New York, Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are in their final stages and a major breakthrough could be possible in the coming days.
He added that the Strait could be opened immediately after a deal is signed, while the policy of “maximum economic pressure” would continue until then.
