Vastu Shastra holds great significance in Hinduism. According to traditional beliefs, a home built in accordance with Vastu principles brings happiness, prosperity, and peace to its residents. On the other hand, Vastu defects can lead to various challenges and disturbances in life.

Let’s explore how different parts of a house should be constructed as per Vastu Shastra:

Bathroom

The bathroom should ideally be located in the eastern part of the house. Water tanks, showers, and washbasins should be installed in the east or north direction within the bathroom.

Kitchen

The kitchen should be constructed in the southeast direction (Agneya Kon). While cooking, the person should ideally face the east or north direction. The dining table should be placed in the west direction for better harmony.

Bedroom

The bedroom should be situated in the southern part of the house. It is advised not to place pictures or idols of deities in the bedroom. Also, bedrooms should be avoided in the northeast (Ishan Kon) and southeast (Agneya Kon) corners of the house.

Safe or Locker

According to Vastu, the safe or locker should be kept in the north direction, which is considered auspicious for wealth and prosperity.

Temple or Puja Room

The prayer room should be built in the northeast direction (Ishan Kon), which is governed by Lord Shiva. Idols and pictures of deities should be placed facing the east or north. Avoid constructing a temple in the south direction. Also, there should be no bathroom or toilet near the puja room.

Toilet/Bathroom

Toilets and bathrooms are best placed in the south or southwest direction (Nairitya Kon). Again, avoid placing them near the prayer area.

Store Room

Store rooms should ideally be built in the northeast or east direction of the house.

Study Room

The study room should be located in the south or west directions. These directions help enhance focus and productivity.
