US ready to join nuclear deal only if Iran follow provisions

Geneva: US Secretary of State Antoine Blinken said on Monday that his country is prepared to return to the Iran nuclear deal if Tehran also strictly adhered to it. Washington has indicated a revival of the ambitious agreement that was rejected by former President Donald Trump.

Speaking to the UN-backed Conference on Disarmament, Blinken laid out a U.S. wish list about many issues including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and space-borne threats in the future.

He expressed concerns about a Russian anti-satellite weapons test last year and China’s provocative and dangerous weapons development programs in addition to the message about Iran.

“The United States remains committed to ensuring that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. Diplomacy is the best path to achieve that goal,” Blinken said.
