On Friday, violence was reported in Baluchistan, Pakistan, where unidentified armed men shot and killed prominent cleric Maulvi Mufti Shah Mir in the town of Turbat, located in the Kech district. According to police, the attack occurred late Friday night as the religious scholar was leaving after performing his evening prayers.
The assailants, riding motorcycles, opened fire on Maulvi Shah Mir, critically injuring him. He was rushed to a hospital in Turbat, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Reports indicate that Maulvi Mir, a close associate of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) party, had previously survived two assassination attempts. This attack follows the killing of two JUI-F leaders in Khuzdar just days earlier.
