Desk:The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended its Visa-on-Arrival facility for Indian passport holders. Now, Indian travelers who hold valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six additional countries will also be eligible for this facility. This move will make it easier for more Indian passport holders to enter the UAE without a prior visa application.
New Visa-on-Arrival Rules
As per the latest UAE directive, Indian citizens holding valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada can now avail of the Visa-on-Arrival facility. Previously, this facility was only available to Indian citizens with valid visas or residence permits from the USA, European Union (EU) member states, or the United Kingdom (UK).
Eligibility Criteria for Visa-on-Arrival
To qualify for Visa-on-Arrival in the UAE, Indian citizens must meet the following conditions:
- A valid Indian passport with at least six months of validity from the date of arrival.
- A valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from one of the eligible countries.
- Payment of the required visa fee upon arrival in the UAE.
Visa Fees & Categories
The UAE government has introduced three Visa-on-Arrival options for Indian travelers:
- 4-day visa – Dh100 (approx. ₹2,270)
- 14-day visa – Dh250 (approx. ₹5,670)
- 60-day visa – Dh250 (approx. ₹5,670)
Objective Behind the Initiative
According to Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) in the UAE, this decision aims to strengthen the long-term strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi and New Delhi. The initiative is designed to simplify travel procedures for Indian travelers, provide new opportunities for residence and employment, and boost tourism and trade.
