New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with newly-elected U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, congratulating him once again on his victory in the presidential election. According to sources, the two leaders expressed their commitment to working together for global peace. During the conversation, President Trump praised Prime Minister Modi, saying that the world loves him, referring to India as a great nation and Modi as a great leader.
President Trump recognized PM Modi as a true friend, noting that Modi was among the first world leaders to reach out after his election victory. PM Modi shared, “Had a meaningful conversation with my friend President Donald Trump, congratulating him on his outstanding win. I am eager to work with him once again to strengthen India-U.S. relations in technology, defense, and other areas.”
Sources reveal that Trump conveyed to PM Modi that the world admires him and holds India in high regard, acknowledging Modi as a remarkable person. Trump expressed that he considers both India and Modi as true friends, noting that Modi was among the first global leaders he spoke with post-victory.
Earlier, PM Modi took to X to congratulate Trump, writing, “Warm congratulations to my friend Donald Trump on your historic election victory. As you build on the successes of your previous term, I look forward to renewing our partnership to further strengthen the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.” Modi added, “Let’s work together for the well-being of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”
In the U.S. presidential election, Trump and his Republican Party secured a clear majority, with Trump winning 277 seats, surpassing the required 270, while his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, garnered 224 seats. The Republican Party also secured 52 seats in the Senate, compared to the Democrats’ 42, and won 199 seats in the House of Representatives against the Democrats’ 181.
