Your home is a place where you have the freedom to create. It’s a place that you can explore your personal style. Everyone wants to create a beautiful home for themselves but making a house look artistic and elegant without spending too much can seem tough. We make the task a little easy for you with these 10 tips:
- Not sure where to start? Try choosing a few coordinating colors that you like and find some art pieces that you like with those colors in common. You don’t need to stick with paintings or canvases either. You can also choose to display photographs, word art, pop art or vintage pieces like old posters or signs that catch your eye.
- Use your walls a showcase for your own photographs. Have your photos blown up and then use a spray adhesive to mount them on a piece of foam core.
- When decorating with art think about the size of the art in relation to your wall or space. A small piece of art on a really large wall can look out of place and just awkward. To create a space with more balance and visual appeal opt oversized pieces or a gallery or grid layout of smaller pieces to occupy more of the wall.
- Hang art in every room in the house. Don’t forget about the dining room, bathroom and even the mudroom.
- Make your bedroom or nursery feel like a forest or mountain range. Paint the walls with a scene in mind. Let it be as intricate or as simple as you wish.
- Treat several pieces as one unit during the hanging process.
- We all like picking up small souvenirs when we travel to a new city or country. And there are so many affordable, yet incredible options to be found in the world! Whether it’s masks, small postcards, or shot glasses from every new place you visit, consciously look out for these on your travels, and build your collection over time. You can easily incorporate these into your décor on the walls, a cupboard, or a long table.
- Beautiful coffee table books are a great way to enhance the décor at home. Big books with stunning covers, when stacked together, or placed at angles, look great on coffee tables, or even side console tables in the hallway or living room.
- How about decorating your kid’s room walls with beautiful kites? It is fun, beautiful and original, and of course and who could resist the temptation of having pale pink or pale blue decoration on the wall?
- Find a quote you love, type it up in a fun font, print it off, and hang it as wall art for daily inspiration. Stay motivated by changing up the quote monthly or even weekly.
