Desk:Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a critical level. In response, the United States has issued an advisory for its citizens and embassy staff in Pakistan. The advisory urges American nationals to leave Lahore and directs U.S. consulate officials to remain in secure locations.

Amid reports of retaliatory drone strikes by India in Lahore and other cities, panic has spread across parts of Pakistan. The drone attacks have reportedly caused explosions, drone shootdowns, and suspected airspace breaches, prompting heightened security alerts.

A statement from the U.S. Consulate General in Lahore noted that, due to reports of drone-related incidents and potential airspace violations in and around Lahore, all consulate personnel have been instructed to remain in safe locations. Initial reports also suggest that authorities may consider evacuating areas adjacent to Lahore’s main airport.

The U.S. has advised its citizens currently in conflict-prone areas to evacuate if it is safe to do so. If evacuation is not possible, they are advised to shelter in place. The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan will continue to provide updates through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) and other official communication channels. Travelers are strongly encouraged to enroll in STEP for timely notifications.
