New Delhi: With the motive to threaten Taiwan, China is repeatedly increasing its military activities around it. After a US-trained defence minister got appointed as Taiwan’s defence minister, eight Chinese fighter aircraft flew into the southwestern part of its air defense zone. This way, China has vented its wrath.
The Taiwanese Defence Ministry said four Chinese J-16s and four JH-7s as well as an electronic warfare aircraft flew near the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands in the top part of the South China Sea.
The air force scrambled, with “radio warnings issued and air defence missile systems deployed to monitor the activity,” the ministry said.
In recent months, China has increased its military activities around Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its own territory.
According to China, it is responding to what it calls “collusion” between Taipei and Washington, Taiwan’s main international backer and weapons supplier.
Amid these intrusions, the Taiwan President has pledged to defend its territories and even modernise its armed forces.
Taiwan has made a major reshuffle in its Defense Department just a few days ago. Taiwan has appointed a trained defense minister in the US to modernize the military and strengthen the intelligence system.
Earlier on February 7, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense reported that a Chinese Y-8 reconnaissance aircraft had entered the southwestern section of Taiwan’s air defense detection zone. The ministry said that Taiwan Army pursued the Chinese fighter jet with its fighter jet until it fled from the border. During this, they continued to give warning on the radio and mobilized the air defense.
