According to religious beliefs, the merit gained from fasting on Shattila Ekadashi is equivalent to performing a thousand Ashwamedha Yajnas. Shattila Ekadashi Worship Method:
- Bath and Temple Cleaning: Take a bath and clean the temple before starting the rituals.
- Water Offering: Perform an abhishek (ritual bathing) of Lord Vishnu with water.
- Abhishek with Panchamrit: Bathe the deity with Panchamrit and Gangajal.
- Offer Yellow Sandalwood and Flowers: Offer yellow sandalwood and yellow flowers to the deity.
- Light a Ghee Lamp: Light a ghee lamp in the temple.
- Fasting Vow: If possible, observe the fast and take the vow to do so.
- Recite the Fasting Story: Read or listen to the Shattila Ekadashi Vrat Katha.
