Each month, two Pradosh Vrats are observed, dedicated to Lord Shiva. These fasts are considered highly auspicious and beneficial. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on this day brings prosperity, peace of mind, and fulfillment of desires. Pradosh Vrat is observed on the Trayodashi (13th day) of both the waxing and waning phases of the lunar month.
Let’s find out when the last Pradosh Vrat of May 2025 will be observed:
What is Shani Pradosh Vrat?
When Pradosh Vrat falls on a Saturday, it is known as Shani Pradosh Vrat. According to the Hindu calendar, the Krishna Paksha Trayodashi of the month of Jyeshtha begins at 7:20 PM on May 24, 2025, and ends at 3:51 PM on May 25, 2025. Since the Trayodashi tithi begins after sunset, the Shani Pradosh Vrat will be observed on May 24, 2025, as per Udaya Tithi (the tithi prevailing at sunrise).
Shiva Puja Muhurat
On the day of Shani Pradosh Vrat, the auspicious time for worshipping Lord Shiva will be from 7:20 PM to 9:13 PM.
Vrat Parana (Breaking the Fast) Timing
As per Hindu traditions, it is considered auspicious to break the Pradosh Vrat after sunrise the following day. Therefore, the Parana (completion of the fast) for the Shani Pradosh Vrat can be done after 5:26 AM on May 25, 2025.
Benefits of Shani Pradosh Vrat
Observing the Shani Pradosh Vrat is believed to reduce the malefic effects of planet Saturn (Shani). The fast brings peace, prosperity, and relief from difficulties. With Lord Shiva’s blessings, devotees are believed to be freed from troubles and attain spiritual and material well-being.
