Ingredients for Tricolor Peda
- 200 grams of khoya (mawa)
- 1 cup milk
- 100 grams sugar
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds)
- ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 food colors (orange and green)
Method to Prepare Tricolor Peda
To make tricolor peda, first, add khoya in a pan and roast it on low heat until it slightly dries out. Once the khoya starts to dry, add milk and let it cook until the milk and khoya blend well. Then, add sugar and mix thoroughly. Keep cooking until the sugar dissolves completely in the milk. Ensure that the mixture doesn’t become too thick or sticky, and keep it slightly moist.
Now, divide the khoya mixture into three portions. In one bowl, add orange food color, in the second one, add green food color, and in the third one, leave it plain and add chopped nuts. Mix each of the portions well to make three different colored mixtures.
Next, lightly grease your palms with ghee and shape small pedas from each colored mixture. You can add a little pistachio or almond on top to enhance the flavor. To garnish, sprinkle cardamom powder over the pedas and decorate them with chopped nuts. Serve and enjoy the patriotic treat!
This simple yet delicious tricolor peda will not only add flavor to your celebrations but also symbolize the spirit of India’s Republic Day.
