Ramveer Tanwar-The Library Man of India helping children achieve their dreams

Education is everyone’s birth right, but poverty and helplessness deprives many children of this right. Ramveer Tanwar from Noida affectionately known as The Library Man of India has started an initiative to educate children. He is running a library for the poor children for the last 4 years. It is the result of his hard work that today a large number of libraries have been opened in more than 250 villages, which is absolutely free.

Ramveer, 33 had started working in a multinational company after completing his B.Tech. The idea of opening a library for poor children clicked in 2018 when he saw that the children were coming in the grip of drugs in his village Jhundpura. The Panchayat office built in the village was turning into a ruin, which was also becoming a den of drugs.

Considering the seriousness of the horrible situation, Ramveer has decided to convert the panchayat office into a library.

Ramveer started his new journey under the name ‘Mission 100 Rural Library’. There were many challenges in his journey, but he did not give up. Eventually his dream came true with the opening of 100 libraries. Then after, he decided to build a village school. ‘Gram Pathshala’ started with the construction of a library in Ganauli village of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh in August 2020.

He took the responsibility of taking over the ruined Panchayat Ghar with the consent of the village head. It was converted into a free modern library with his own funds, so that the children of the village could come and study at any time. A seating arrangement for 67 children was made in this modern well equipped library.

Gradually, children from nearby villages also came here and started studying. As a result, the need of more space in the library came into light. In such a situation, team member Lal Bahar, who is posted as inspector in the National Human Rights Commission, put forward an idea in front of his team that we should approach the people of nearby villages and inspire them to build a library in their village.

With the perseverance of ‘Team Gram Pathshala’, a large number of libraries have been built in more than 250 villages of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana

Team Gram Pathshala under the able mentorship of Ramveer Tanwar is determined to build libraries in all the villages across the nation so that children can get a library to study in their village itself. Their goal is to make ‘India- the country of libraries.’
